The Curse of Wrigley Field

Baseball America recently unveiled their list of top Cubs prospects and at the head of the class is the 2007 first round draft pick Josh Vitters.  Vitters struggled in his short season debut but it’ll be fun to see how Vitters develops in Peoria next year.

Geovany Soto comes in at number two although it’s hard to call him a prospect anymore.  He lit up Iowa and he’ll most likely be the Cubs starting catcher in 2008.  2006 first round pick Tyler Colvin comes in at number three after solid stints at both Daytona and Tennessee while Jose Cerda (the top pitching prospect) and Sean Gallagher round out the top five.  After his minor league struggles last year, Jeff Samardzija checks in at number eight but with a solid season in 2008, you could really see him jump in next year’s version of this list.
