Are you a big fan of American Idol? No? Well, Mark DeRosa would be ashamed of you! Because he’s not just an avid fan of the show, he has a favorite singer: Michael Johns

And guess who was recently voted off the show. That’s right, DeRosa’s boy. But rather than keep his emotions to himself or vent angrily to his mother over the phone like most of us would, he decided to voice his displeasure with MLB.com.

“I was shocked, DeRosa said Friday about John’s fate. “He did not deserve to get knocked off. I think it’s an embarrassment to the show and the fans who watch the show.
“It’s obviously a popularity contest and not a talent contest. There’s four or five people there who are not as talented as he is.”

That’s right Simon Cowell. DeRosa wants to meet you under the flag pole at three for a North Side beat down! But, seriously, I can’t figure out which is worse. The fact that De Rosa had a favorite singer or that he knows enough about the show to make pointed critiques?

I can just see DeRosa in his hotel room, sitting with his popcorn and crying once the final decision was made. Hey man, considering you’ve made a couple of really bad errors early in the season, it’s probably best that you stop watching American Idol and concentrate on playing ball.
