Writing About the Chicago Cubs and Looking at the Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]

You know things are going good for your team when Felix Pie hits a three-run home run.
Pie, who is currently hitting a healthy .172, notched his first home run of the season during the Cubs’ 7-1 win over the Mets last night. That’s doubly impressive when you consider he hasn’t started since April 15, taking the time to work on his swing.
His three RBI were a part of a five-run eighth inning for Chicago. The Cubs took advantage of a Jose Reyes error to start the inning and never looked back. Prior to Pie’s jack, Ronny Cedeno drove in two runs with a single.
Aramis Rameriez had another solid day at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk.
Carlos Zambrano didn’t go crazy on anyone, but he did abuse the Mets, allowing just one run off five hits over seven innings. He struck out just four guys but he also induced four double plays with that nasty sinker.
Carlos Marmol and Kerry Wood, were also solid, pitching a perfect two innings with one strike out combined.
